so we have a few guitarists here on the boards. as far as i know ugz, myself, and the indians...maybe more.
i understand that you guys are more than likely better than i am judging by your music of choice alone. so, let me first start out with my credentials to tell u where im at musically. ive been told by many recording studios that i am above average at what i do. i was in drum line growing up. ive recorded lead and rhythm guitar, bass, piano, orchestrated string parts, and sang lead and harmonies. my forte is coming up with things that color in the lines. its very easy for me to take a song that someone else wrote and collaborate with them by making things that bring more dimension. ie harms and leads. without trying to toot my own horn, i would say that i am a b-rated producer. ive recorded many albums starting in high school and ive made many contacts. currently im working on something big, but you will have to wait for that . my first instrument was the guitar, but i now consider myself more of a song writer than guitarist. now, ive been comfortable with my skills for a long time. i seem to have plateaued though. im completely fine with that. my philosophy is derived from a movie called "eddie and the cruisers 2." eddie says, "TELL me something...dont SHOW me." basically meaning that there are a lot of show offs, but their music doesnt convey anything. i like to tell stories, but id also like to show off as well. i know a lot of scales and theory, so im not a total lost cause, but there is, at the very least, one last thing i would like to learn...arpeggios (or sweeps). i have not dug into them too much. i could easily google the damn thing, but i thought i would give you guys an excuse to do some show and tell. tell us about your histories, and maybe give me a simple yet effective lesson on these. the one thing that i think i know is that an arpeggio goes through every note in a scale in order? something like that?
p.s. here are some links to past music i have recorded, but be aware that i am into music that most of you are not, and some of it was done back in high school when i was still green. i could catch a lot of shit with so many metal heads around here lol.
